This month we have been working on using Google Slides. When we first introduce an app to students we want to make sure the content isn’t academic heavy. This way our students aren’t trying to use a new app and learn content at the same time. The lesson was about kindness. We have been working on adjectives in our writing and grammar. So for a fun lesson, the students created a kindness jar for each friend in their class. Students thought of all the different words that would describe our friends. I used a mason jar as a background and added a heart for each student in my classroom. I duplicated the slide 20 times, one for each student and myself.
The students then went to the slide that matched their classroom number and added their names to the tag. Students then worked to add a kind word about their classmate in a heart. At one point a student said, “Wow, Owen you are blowing up right now!” They absolutely loved reading kind words others had written for them and leaving them for others.
